Hello Sorry but a bit of a newbie question for you, hope someone can help ?

I have just got my first Super 8 camera, Sankyo EM-30XL, and very happy with it.
But I would like to control the recording start/stop with a remote control.

Is there any place which would sell used Sankyo accessories for the EM-30XL? Or is something like the remote control universal, or even possible to make one.
    Any advise welcome, cheers.

I don't know what the trigger on that particular camera is like, but my camera's trigger requires some strength. But a few pieces pieces of gaffer tape does the trick. Or, try one or two thick, strong rubber bands.

It never hurts to watch E-bay. You never know what's going to pop up there. You might even find another camera with the accessory and then have a backup or parts camera to boot.

First of all, is there a remote control socket?

If so and it's threaded, It's probably for a cable release. Go to a camera store.

If so and it isn't threaded, it's probably for an electronic remote. Take a bare piece of wire and touch the contacts inside the socket, if you can make the camera run by doing this, that's what you have. I have a camera like this that I made a great remote control for with a switch, some wire and a mini phono jack I bought at Radio Shack.

I really like the electronic remote control, because since there is no mechanical action to trigger the camera, you can come up with many different ways to do it very easily.

By the way, it's possible for a remote socket to be in funky places. I have another camera where you flip the trigger up and there is a cable release socket underneath it.
